How To Order Scrip
Follow the easy account setup instructions - the link is located below - and place your Scrip
order online at www.shopwithscrip.com. Once you have finished selecting your Scrip,
print out the order, and send it to the office, along with a check made payable to Saint Patrick School. If you do not
have the school's enrollment code, then contact Pam Behrakis at Behrakis@comcast.net.
What is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means “substitute money.” When
you purchase Scrip, you’re purchasing prepaid gift cards that are used just like cash. You can use Scrip
for everyday expenses such as food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for St.
Pat’s. These cards are the same cards you would receive if you were to go directly
to the vendor to purchase gift cards.
How Scrip generates revenue Scrip companies act on behalf of organizations, such as ours, to purchase
large amounts of Scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the Scrip is
purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. St. Patrick School
buys the Scrip at a discount and re-sells the cards to our families for full face value. The discount,
from two to twenty percent or more, is St. Patrick School’s profit.
We need your participation
The fundraising
committee has carefully gone over various fundraisers and has selected Scrip to be our major fundraiser, so we are
asking that all families participate. It’s easy – as opposed to paying for overpriced,
and, in most cases, unwanted items, you select gift cards from only those vendors you already frequent. The
profits can add up very quickly. For example, if you purchased just $200 worth of Scrip per month, your
order would produce, on average, $19.50 profit:
Vendor Type | Amount | Profit %* | Total Profit | Restaurants
(Chili’s, Longhorn, Pizzaria Uno etc.) | $75 | 11% | $8.25 | Entertainment (AMC Theater, Chunky’s, etc.). | $50 | 10% | $5.00 | Clothing (Gap, JC Penney, Macy’s, etc.) | $50 | 9% | $4.50 | Birthdays (Toys
R Us, Build-A Bear, KB Toys, etc.) | $25 | 7% | $1.75 | Total | $200 |
| $19.50 |
* Average profit by type of vendor
Assuming you participate
in a similar fashion each month, profits would amount to $195 by the end of the year…and that’s not even including
Christmas shopping! If every family at St. Patrick School participated at this level, this program could
easily raise over $30,000. Last year we raised approximately $15,000 with approximately 60% participation.
Our goal is to increase the profits AND participation level.
Partners in Profits
As
an added incentive, we have created our “partner in profits.” Once a family raises $100 in
Scrip profits, it will become a “partner in profits” and share 50/50 in all future profits that family raises.
For example, if your family raises $300 in profits, the school will receive $200 and you will receive a check for $100!
Last year, we had more than 40 “partners in profits,” many who received checks for several
hundred dollars!
